On one hand, my passport, on the other hand, a Chinese-English dictionary

 

In my eyes, I held the hopes and dreams of the entire village

 

I was excited and had always wished to visit the beautiful land of China

 

And by the way I came prepared, equipped with a few Chinese words, like 你好,

謝謝, 好的, 吃飯, 老師, ready to face any language barrier.

 

Do you know that it’s only in china where you will receive warm and genuine

encouragement, just by greeting a Chinese 你好, to which they will always

respond with a smile on their face “哇哈, 你的中文非 常好“

 

I remember going to a coffee shop, pulling out my small chinese-English

dictionary and memorized how I can order a cup of coffee – (我要一杯咖)

Wo…yao…yi…bei…kafei… Wo…yao…yi…bei…kafei

 

Then with confidence, I ordered，我要一杯咖啡（wo yao yi bei kafei）This was

my first chinese ‘sentence. I have never been this excited! Then she looked at me and asked “中杯還是大杯 (zhongbei haishi dabei)，冰的還是熱的(bingde

haishi rede) 要不要加唐（yao buyao jiatang），要不要加奶(yao bu yao jia nai)，

要不要檸檬(yaobuyao ningmeng)… I was confused, since I didn’t understand. I

looked at her and replied 不要不要咖啡， 謝 謝! (bu yao bu yao kafei,xiexie)

 

China welcomed me with open arms, the smiles on the faces of the Chinese

people, whenever we meet, the kindness, the willingness to share their culture

melts my heart. They would always ask me “Nǐ láizì nǎlǐ?（你來自哪裏） –And I

gladly respond（wo shi feizhouren 我 是非洲人）Zhongguo zenmeyang (中國怎

麽樣)？Zhōngguó hěn bàng！（中國很棒） wo keyi mo ni de toufa ma？keyi ah!

Ni de toufa shi zhende ma? Dui ah! Wǒmen kěyǐ yīqǐ pāi zhāng zhàopiàn ma?

Keyi ah!

 

China is a beautiful country, where the old and the new blend seamlessly, the

elderly and the young, from the ancient Chinese culture to modern chinese life,

from the great wall of China to the high end technological advancements, the

vibrant streets of China, where every corner tells a story.

 

The food, the culture, the people- China is an enderaring charm, every day

seems like a new adventure. Each day spent in the beautiful land of China

adds colour to my journey. Thankyou China, I love China, Wo ai Zhongguo(我

愛中國)
